OKANAGAN HOCKEY ACADEMY: QUALIFICATIONS

"lots of ice and trips 55 games NHL coaches , Power Skating, Yoga the program has impoved much since last year!"

ok alan (or whoever), let's go over these one by one:

1)yes lots of ice, but you shouldn't have to go on road trips to calgary every month to play hockey in canada, and you DEFINITELY shouldn't have to drive an hour to kelowna just to practice once a week from april-july.

2) nhl coaches? Dirk and Wesley are legit, but just because you were qualified to get your face punched in for 9 years does not qualify you to teach skills and systems to young players who may or may not have better skating and hands than you. I can't comment on Randy Jaycock, but it's a bit of a misnomer to call a perennial bench-warmer an nhl player.Dixon Ward? his doctor took a blood sample and it was 80 proof (and he rarely even shows up). that nhlpa card only covers a 8x5cm part of your ass. you still have to cover the rest.

3)power skating yes. if a player is a real athelete, he will benefit from this (about 20-35% of your enrolled players).

4)yoga yes. about 3-4 times during the season, more regularly in summer. but really, who cares?

I agree. It was much better when we were integrated into the OMAHA league. That was the bragging right of OHA to talk about being part of the OMAHA League and its strength. Now we are going to play other schools and the level of play is much watered down. It's so disappointing.

You have no idea what is going on. Only the top team plays in the new school league. Oh yeah and they did not play in OMAHA last year either. The AAA1 and AAA2 teams still play in OMAHA. Man there is some mis-information on this site. Anyone who is looking for information on OHA please, please ask someone besides the person behind all this BS.

Everyone knows the so called AAAA (Really barely AAA) went all over the US last season and got slaughtered by average AAA US teams.

Bottom line is that OHA has a few high quality coaches but the kids who can afford 40,000 tuition are not the top choice players. They balance this by bringing in Canadian kids for much less who are quality players but that is just a handful and certainly not enough to make quality teams with a bunch of rich kids without talent. OHA courts these families because their money fuels the travel and development of the few quality kids including their own kids who enjoy the program for free.

Most prep type schools have become money making machines in recent years making actual development of players secondary to collecting cash. I don't know how OHA has been able to fool parents into spending 40 thousand a year for a public HS level education. It seems crazy.

I think all of the prep schools are pretty bad. OHA is right down there with the rest.

did anyone see how bad the Jr B OHA team sucks ass this year? They are awful!

The Lakers formerly the Sting have lost 9 games and won 2 and are currently 2nd from the bottom of their division. At OHA its all about the $$$$. They don't even have pride as they keep filling their coffers with money from lessor players and losing constantly

by far the worst Jr B team they ever fielded. This program is down the tubes

they've lost 13 and won 2, I think. Have you seen them play? They are terrible! Over half those boys are below Jr B level and they are only carrying them for the money. They could not get quality kids to fork out the $$$ because most teams in the KIJHL are very low cost. OHA is the highest and the poorest quality
